4.2.3 High performance pendulum diesel rail car for Northern Line

(1) Design concept
As the design concept of the new Sprinter, it is necessary to design a car having a motive power performance and comfortableness capable of competing with those of other transportation such as an airplane or a bus and moreover having a world-top performance as a narrow-gauge railway by assuming the improvement of the track of SRT Northern Line.
(2) Motive power system
In the case of SRT Northern Line, characteristics of the both systems are considered as shown in table 4.2-4.
